A very welcome visitor from next door

My next door neighbour has the most amazing rose in her garden, and by some miracle of luck, it has grown over to our side.
I think it started last year when we notice it had climbed up a tree on our side.  This year it kind of collapsed onto our side, and the spur grew so much that I swear we are getting more benefit than they are.

What do I do?  It seems an absolute travesty to cut it off, but I have a sneaking guilty feeling that we should be offering it back?

There is a saying that you should offer back anything that you take off the plant, so I guess that means if we pick any.
The whole thing makes me feel somewhat like a character out of the fairy tale Rapunzel.

  1. Tell them about your blog and they may leave you a comment to give you some guidance in this dilemma. LOL

  2. What a lovely visitor. Your neighbor must take very good care of it for it to bloom like that.

  5. Such a vivid color! Now that is something that would a welcome departure from the typical things that usually happen with neighbors like fighting over dogs barking, etc. :)

  6. What a coincidence that right as I read your comment on my blog about simplifying, and consumption, that I was biting into a decadent treat.

  7. Thank you for visiting and for your comments.

Hazel - you're right, I should ask really, I'm sure they don't mind.

There's just life - that's what I am thinking, she must have a brilliant secret. I've asked before as their garden is beautiful and it seems to be deep watering regularly.

Reader Wil - I did initially cut a couple then felt guilty so have left it since then. I will deadhead them before they form rose hips, if only to keep the flowers coming!

Rosey and Mangocheeks, the colour is ace, it's the best red rose I've ever seen. I really really must get a cutting. I'd love to know what type it is.
